OBJECTIVES

• The Student Resource Centre is to provide the students with opportunities in both curricular and co curricular areas which will help them in better realizing their potentials and talents and enhance their leadership skills.
• We achieve our objective by providing coordination for arranging seminars, guest speaker sessions cultural and entertainment events. We also act as the noodle point for interaction of our university with the corporate sector and business world to coordinate various placement and internship activities for our students.
• Members of the SRC work hard against the image that a student is only made for the books. The very first duty of the youth today is to build our country and carry it responsibly on its shoulders.
• It serves as the platform for coordinating the contact between the university and its alumni through maintaining a data base on their whereabouts and periodically arranging their meetings and re-unions.

Introduction

The main and core function of this department is to provide opportunity and help the students in getting an Internship & Jobs which is university requirement for the issuance of degree. This department is also responsible for issuance of recommendation letter to the students to apply for the internship with the help of recommendation from university. It will act as a bridge between the world of work and the academic environment.

We wish to commit ourselves to offering and exceptional level of service to both students and employers. It operates year-round to facilitate with the said services include, but are not limited to assisting employers, student and alumni in scheduling interviews, comprehensive resume review, create opportunities for internships, career fairs, project exhibitions & compiling and disseminating relevant organizational and job related data to graduates.

We also assist in coordinating employer visits to our campus which translates into positive public relations for the companies. Likewise, this type of interaction provides students with exposure to workplace in respective industries.

Internships & Job Placements

The Students Resource Centre markets the graduates of Bahria University, Karachi Campus to potential employers thus finding good jobs for them. Students Resource Centre finds jobs for students by personally meeting the potential employers and also through mail correspondence. We also hold Job Fairs at the Campus in every semester where the students and potential employers are given an opportunity to interact with each other. Job Fairs play an important role in job placement of our graduating students.

     • 1.1.1. P & G Recruitment Team visited Bahria University Karachi Campus -9th February 2009

       Test Conducted by Proctor & Gamble
       Students Resource Centre invited the recruitment team of Proctor & Gamble for conducting the testfor Internship Program 2009. The students graduating in 2010 was eligible to attend the test. P & G is one of the Leading consumer Products. The students of Bahria University Karachi Campus attended the Orientation Session. The recruitment test was organized at auditorium and more than 100 students participated. At the end the Program Officer thanked to the team members of P&G.

       U –Careers Day by Unilever
       Students Resource Centre organizes different recruitment activities at the campus year around. The SRC invited Unilever to conduct the U-Careers Day at Bahria University Karachi Campus to conduct the Management Trainee test for graduating students. The HR Team of Unilever conducted the Internship Program Test for the students. Ms. Rahila Narejo was conducted the workshop for the students. At the end of the workshop they distributed gift hampers to the participants. The HR Team announces the result on the same Day and also conducted the interviews of the selected students. The SRC coordinated and the event was well organized.

     • 1.1.3. Engro Group of Companies conducted Interviews for Internship program 2009 on 19th March 2009

       The Program Officer conducted visits successfully to different organizations to invite them at the Career Fair 2009 organized in January 2009 Engro Group was also visited and invited to conduct the recruitment drive. The recruitment team of Engro Food visited Bahria University, Karachi Campus on 19th March 2009 for the fist time. The team conducted the presentation on the organization, working environment and their values. All students participated the session very energetically. The HR team Headed by Ms. Maha Usman Khan. The CVs of graduated students collected by the coordinators of SRC and submit to Ms. Maha. There were three panels for interviews. One was for marketing, second was for Finance and third one for the Human Resource.

     • 1.1.4. Lipton Talent Hunt Program by Unilever 10th November 2008

       Unilever announced a Intra University Business Plan competition with name of Lipton Talent Hunt Program to offer the real type projects. The challenge is to develop a business plan to launch / re-launch Lipton Teabags in the university. Lipton Talent Hunt is being organized in the top business universities of Pakistan in which one team from each university will represent Lipton in its own campus. The activity is aimed to give student a chance to deal with an actual market situation, where you will gauge your target market and come up with a comprehensive business plan and then execute it on-ground. Students participated in the competition.

     • 1.1.5. UBL Management Trainee Program- 23rd April, 09

       UBL visited Bahria University on 23rd April,09 for its MTO program. An informative presentation was held on UBL’s Management Trainee Program followed by interviews of graduating students for MTO position. 50 students were shortlisted for the interviews. Finally selected student after panel interviews is Syed Furrukh Abbas.

     • 1.1.6. KESC conducted test of Internship Program 2009 24th April 2009

       The Director Recruitment visited SRC was discussed to conduct the orientation session of KESC Internship Program 2009 for the students of Bahria University Karachi Campus. 30 Students applied for the internship at KESC.
       
       The orientation session was conducted on 24th April 2009 at 11:30am later on they conducted the test for the applicants. Finally following students have selected to join the Internship Program 2009.

     • 1.1.7. Meeting with Etilize - 13th March 2009

       Etilize, Inc. is the largest provider of aggregated product data in the world. The Program Officer SRC visited Etilize to attend the orientation session. The Director Human Resources Global Operations of Etilize conducted presentation about the company and provided further details of requirement of recruitment. They announced Job opportunities for the graduating students of Bahria University Karachi Campus. The Director Human Resource Global Operations was invited to visit the Campus in future to conduct the session with the graduating students of Bahria University Karachi Campus. These visits create healthy and good relations with the organization and the University.

     • 1.1.8. GLAXOSMITHKLINE Assessment Test for the Management Program

       The recruitment team of GLAXOSMITHKLINE conduct assessment test to select the Internees & Management Trainee. Mr. Farzian gave valuable presentation to help the students for their future professional life. The event was well organized by Students Resource Centre.

     • 1.1.9. Citibank Recruitment Test

       The Citibank is one of Global Consumer Bank. SRC organized the recruitment orientation session for graduating students of Bahria University Karachi Campus. Mr. Shahzad Ishaq Head of Cards Portfolio at Citibank shared his valuable experience with passing out graduates to guide them for their successful life in their professional career. Mr. Umer Abid Unit Head of Card acquiring business, Mr. Salman Haider Policy Manager & Mr. Atiq Syed Relationship Manager also brief about the career path for the successful career in Citibank.

     • 1.1.10. HSBC Management Trainee Program

       HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world and having international network The HR team of HSBC invited to visit the Bahria University Karachi Campus and conducted the recruitment orientation session for graduating students of MBA.

       The HR representative presented the presentation about the history of HSBC and guided the graduating students to career path in HSBC. At the end the question answer session was conducted and they distributed gifts to participants.

     • 1.1.11. Meezan Bank Recruitment Session

       SRC invited the head of Human Resource Department of Meezan Bank to conduct the orientation session for the graduating students of Bahria University Karachi campus for their Trainee Officer Program 2009. The visit was one of like bridge between the universities and the corporate world:

     • 1.1.12. Algorithm Consulting conducted test

       SRC invited the Algorithm Consulting at Bahria University Karachi Campus to conduct the test and interviews on 29th May 2008. We facilitate them with presentation hall to present their organizational presentation. 29 students of Computer and Software Engineering attended the test. Interviews were conducted of short listed candidates at their Head Office. 3 Bahrians for the post of Software Engineers (Trainee), students were; Ms. Fizza Khorasany, Ms. Atya Saleem and Mr. Jawaad Haider

     • 1.1.13. ORIX technology Ltd. conducted test & interviews

       Test Conducted for Graduating Students
       We invited ORIX technology to conduct test and initial screening interviews for the graduating students of Computer and Hardware Engineering. On 26th May 2008 the recruitment team visited the Bahria University, Karachi Campus.

       The Graduate Directory posted to the HR Manager of Mobile Complete and sent invitation to conduct the test and interviews for short listed candidates. We facilitated them with the test hall and presentation hall to conduct the presentation. 15 students short listed for interviews. They conducted interviews to short list the internees for the summer 2008.

     • 1.1.15. Paxym Recruitment Team visited Bahria University Karachi Campus

       Ms. Nazish Rehman the HR Manager of Paxym conducted interviews of graduating students of BSE-8 & BCE-8. The recruitment team short listed the internees for the internship program.

     • 1.1.16. Recruitment team of Arpatech visited Karachi Campus

       Students Resource Centre organized the visit to conduct the test and interviews for graduating students of BSE/BCE. The recruitment team of Arpatech visited on 22nd May 2008 Mr. Murtaza M. Ilyas with the team conducted the test and interviews of graduating students of BSE/BCE at Bahria University, Karachi Campus.

     • 1.1.17. Recruitment team of Xpedient Technologies visited Bahria University Karachi Campus

       Students Resource Centre organized the visit to conduct interviews for the graduating students of BSE/BCE. The recruitment team visited on 27 May 2008 the team conducted the test and interviews of graduating students of BSE/BCE at Bahria University, Karachi Campus. They showed their interest to conduct a seminar on WiMAX and the seminar was held successfully on 2nd June 2008.

       Students Resource Centre invited and organize the visit to conduct interviews for the graduating students of BSE/BCE. The recruitment team visited on 2nd July 2008 Ms. Sadia Asad with the team conducted the test and interviews of graduating students of BSE/BCE at Bahria University, Karachi Campus. They conducted test for internship opportunity for 6th and 7th semester students of BSE/BCE.

     • 1.1.19. Recruitment team of DataCheck (Pvt) Ltd. visited Bahria University Karachi Campus

       Students Resource Centre invited and organizes the visit to conduct interviews for the graduating students of BSE/BCE. The selected students were called for the interview at their head office.

       Students Resource Centre invited and organizes the visit to conduct test for the graduating students of BSE/BCE specialized in Networking, SE, & SQA. The recruitment team visited on 2nd July 2008 Mr. Raza Asad with the team conducted the test and interviews of graduating students of BSE/BCE at Bahria University, Karachi Campus. They conducted test for internship opportunity also for 6th and 7th semester students of BSE/BCE on 1st July 2008.

       Students Resource Centre invited and organizes the visit to conduct test for the graduating students of BSE/BCE. The recruitment team visited on 2nd July 2008 the team conducted the test and interviews of graduating students of BSE/BCE at Bahria University, Karachi Campus. They conducted test for internship opportunity for 6th and 7th semester students of BSE/BCE on 1st July 2008.

       Students Resource Centre invited and organizes the visit to conduct test for the graduating students of BSE/BCE. The recruitment team visited on 30th June 2008 the team conducted the test and interviews of graduating students of BSE/BCE at Bahria University, Karachi Campus.

       Students Resource Centre invited and organizes the visit to conduct test for the graduating students of BSE/BCE. The recruitment team visited on 20th June 2008 the team conducted the test and interviews of graduating students of BSE/BCE at Bahria University, Karachi Campus.

     • 1.1.24. SUPARCO

       SUPARCO Team placed stall in Careers 2008
       SUPARCO conducted the test on 22nd May 2008. Finally selected students interviewed for job and finally offered the Job at SUPARCO.

Facilitate on Campus Recruitment for Job placements

Organize visits of recruitment teams of different well reputed organizations and facilitate them with Presentation Hall & Auditorium to conduct their introductory presentations and interactive session for our students.

Manage written and computerized test of different organizations to generate opportunities for our students. We facilitate them with Test rooms, Computerized Labs and separate interview rooms.

Organize Seminars & Workshops on latest interview technique and How to draft Effective CV Designing

The seminar was held every semester and the Guest Speakers were from the corporate to spoke on the subject ‘How to prepare an effective CV & Interview Techniques’. It will help them in upcoming interviews for their internship in summer and the graduating students who selected for ongoing process of job finalizing in different MNCs and multinational Banks.

Career Fairs

The objective to organize Career Fairs is to provide a platform where students and people from the corporate world can interact. Its purpose is to provide a prospect of knowing each other. It will be highly beneficial for the student’s in-terms of getting awareness of the requirements of corporate world and shaping themselves accordingly. Through this event we can provide organizations to offer training/employment opportunities to the recently graduates of Bahria University. This career fair is meant to give the corporate representatives an opportunity to introduce their organization to our graduating students for entry-level and internship purposes. It will also be an opportunity for companies to introduce their products and services to our students who are about to enter into the professional world.

Introduction of clubs

The one of main objective of the clubs of SRC is to organize numerous activities which offer positively impact students’ emotional, intellectual, social, and interpersonal development. By working together with others individual students learn to negotiate, communicate, manage conflict and lead others. Taking part in these out-of-the-classroom activities helps students to understand the importance of critical thinking skills, time management, and academic and intellectual competence, involvement in activities helps student’s mature socially by providing a setting for students interaction, relationship formation, and discussion. Working outside of the classroom with diverse groups of individuals allows for students to gain more self-confidence, autonomy, and appreciation for others’ differences and similarities. The activities that have been identified mainly include difference sports activities, competitions like debating, quiz etc., educational and recreational trips, entertainment events like dinners, movie nights, fun fairs etc.

Sports provide an opportunity for the students to play a sport they enjoy, while competing against their peers. In this sense, sport also endows the person engage in it with a sense of reinvigoration, achievement, mental fulfillment, joy of solidarity and team spirit. It also contributes to the maintenance and improvement of health in both the mental and physical sense in that it foster stamina and physical strength, relieves mental stress, and helps to prevent the habitual lifestyle diseases.

Debate quiz competition are beneficial because they include skill development in critical thinking, public policy and values research, computer research proficiency, public speaking, advocacy, and conflict resolution. Besides these they provided a health competition among the students which give them a sense of achievement and accomplishment.

Entertainment activities like Alumni or Annual Dinner, Fun fairs, Movie nights etc. gives a chance for the students, faculty and administrative staff of the university to interact a with each other. They also give a chance to the families of faculty and staff to come and enjoy the University environment, such activities comes as a pleasant change for everyone as they get a chance to relax and enjoy with their colleagues and friends.
